What transportation is available for tours?
We offer private transportation for guests who book tour services with us. Our vehicles are designed to accommodate small to medium-sized groups comfortably, allowing you to enjoy tastings without the responsibility of driving. This makes your day safer, more relaxed, and easier to manage. Transportation is arranged as part of customized tour planning, helping ensure efficient routing between distilleries. Because rideshare options can be limited in rural areas, having dedicated transportation helps eliminate logistical concerns. Whether you’re planning a single-day outing or a multi-stop itinerary, our transportation services allow you to focus on the experience rather than navigation or timing.
Are distillery reservations included with tours?
Distillery reservations are not automatically included with our tours. Most distilleries on the Bourbon Trail require reservations, and availability can vary by season and popularity. You are responsible for securing your reservations directly with the distilleries you wish to visit. That said, we help coordinate tour timing and routing around your confirmed reservations to ensure the day runs smoothly. Planning is especially important during weekends and peak travel periods, when tours often sell out. If you’re unsure which distilleries to book or how to space appointments, early communication allows us to help you structure a practical and enjoyable itinerary around your confirmed reservations.
Can I stay without booking a tour?
Yes, you can stay with us without booking a tour. At Bourbon Barrel Cottages & Tours, our cottages are available as standalone accommodations, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful retreat in the heart of bourbon country on your own schedule. Many guests choose to stay simply to relax, explore nearby distilleries independently, or enjoy the quiet countryside setting. Our cottages are designed to function as full vacation rentals, complete with private outdoor spaces and modern comforts. While we do offer customized bourbon, brewery, and winery tours, these are optional and can be added separately if you decide later that you’d like a guided experience. Whether you want a fully planned bourbon itinerary or a quiet getaway, you’re welcome to tailor your stay to fit your plans.
What is the maximum group size for tours or cottages?
We have no size limit on the number of people we can accommodate. This is because we have partnerships with other tour companies and can accommodate large groups easily. The cottages have accommodations for up to 30 people, and the main house sleeps 18 people, so 48 people can comfortably stay at our resort. We have two vans that comfortably transport 18 people in total, and we have access to two other vehicles that can comfortably transport 20 people each. If you’re planning a group stay or coordinated tour experience, we recommend reaching out in advance so we can help you select the best setup for your needs.
Are children allowed at the cottages or on tours?
Yes, children are welcome to stay at our cottages, and families do visit the property together. The cottages function as private vacation rentals, making them suitable for guests of different ages when supervised by adults. Outdoor space and private accommodations allow families to enjoy a relaxed stay in a rural setting. That said, many tour experiences in bourbon country revolve around alcohol tastings. While children may accompany adults to certain distillery grounds, individual distilleries set their own age policies for tours and tastings. Some experiences are restricted to guests 21 and over. If you’re traveling with children, we recommend reviewing distillery guidelines in advance and planning activities accordingly. We’re happy to help you think through logistics so your stay is enjoyable and appropriate for everyone in your group.
Do you offer bourbon trail tours?
Yes, we offer private, customized Bourbon Trail tours designed for guests who want a guided, flexible experience. Our on‑site services let you board one of our vehicles, such as a Mercedes limo van or a passenger Sprinter, with a knowledgeable host who helps tailor your day around the distilleries and experiences you care about most. We work with you to plan stops so you can visit major producers, smaller craft distilleries, or a mix that includes local breweries or wineries. Because we operate our own exclusive tours for guests, outside tour companies aren’t permitted on property, keeping your experience private and focused on your interests. Tours are arranged alongside your stay, and although distillery admission tickets are separate, we help coordinate your timing and routing so you spend less time navigating and more time enjoying your bourbon adventure.
What types of accommodations are available?
We offer several accommodation options designed to suit different group sizes and travel styles. Our most popular option is our private two-bedroom cottages, each set on its own space and designed to provide comfort, privacy, and a quiet place to unwind after a day of exploring bourbon country. For larger groups, we also offer a Main House with multiple bedrooms, shared living areas, and ample space for group stays. This option works well for reunions, celebrations, or extended group trips. All accommodations are designed to feel more like a home than a hotel, giving you room to relax, gather, and enjoy your surroundings.
What amenities are included in the cottages?
Our cottages are equipped with amenities designed to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Each cottage includes a private hot tub, outdoor fire pit, grill, and a covered porch where you can enjoy the surrounding scenery. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living areas, climate control, and Wi-Fi. The goal is to provide a space where you can unwind between activities without feeling like you’re staying in a standard hotel. Outdoor seating and natural surroundings allow you to enjoy quiet mornings and evenings on the property. While layouts may vary slightly between cottages, all are designed to offer a balance of modern convenience and peaceful retreat, giving you everything you need for a comfortable stay in Bourbon Country.
Is the property pet-friendly?
Yes, our property is generally pet-friendly, and all of our cottages welcome pets. There is a $50 pet fee that is applicable per pet, per stay. Do note, however, that the Main House does not accommodate pets. We ask that pets be well-behaved, supervised, and cleaned up during your stay to help maintain the property for all guests. Let us know when you are making your reservation if you intend to come with your pet so we can make your stay as comfortable as possible. Bringing your pet allows you to enjoy your trip without leaving them behind, while still respecting the comfort and experience of other guests staying nearby.
Can I have a private event or group stay?
Yes, Bourbon Barrel Cottages can accommodate both private group stays and hosted events, including weddings and celebrations. Our property functions as an event venue as well as a lodging destination, with the ability to host weddings and events for up to 150 guests. Group lodging and event space are handled separately. Guests may reserve cottages or the Main House for overnight accommodations, while event spaces are booked as an additional service based on the type, size, and needs of the event. This allows flexibility for everything from intimate gatherings to larger, fully hosted celebrations.
Is a personal chef included in any packages?
Because event requirements vary, we recommend discussing your plans with our team in advance. This ensures we can confirm availability, pricing, guest capacity, and any logistical details related to your event.
Are there any additional on-site activities?
While our focus is on comfortable lodging and curated bourbon experiences, there are several ways you can enjoy your time on-site. At Bourbon Barrel Cottages, guests often take advantage of the peaceful outdoor setting by relaxing in private hot tubs, gathering around fire pits, grilling meals, or enjoying quiet time on covered porches. The natural surroundings make the property ideal for unwinding between outings. We do not operate structured on-site activities such as guided hikes or scheduled entertainment. Instead, the experience is intentionally flexible, allowing you to relax at your own pace or head out to nearby distilleries, wineries, and local attractions. This balance gives you both a restful retreat and easy access to bourbon country experiences without feeling over-programmed.
Can guests request customized bourbon tour itineraries?
Yes, you can request customized bourbon tour itineraries. Our tour offerings are designed to be private and flexible rather than fixed, allowing you to shape your experience around the distilleries and attractions that interest you most. You can focus on well-known distilleries, mix bourbon with breweries or wineries, or plan a more relaxed pace across multiple days. While distillery reservations are handled separately and often require booking, we help coordinate timing and routing so your day flows smoothly. Customization depends on availability, distance between locations, and your group size. If you already have distilleries in mind or need guidance narrowing down options, it’s best to communicate early so your itinerary aligns with your stay and travel plans.
Is Wi-Fi available for guests?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available for guests staying in our accommodations. Each cottage is equipped with reliable high-speed internet powered by Starlink, supporting everyday needs such as checking email, streaming content, or planning your itinerary during your stay. This allows you to stay fully connected while still enjoying a quiet, rural setting. Thanks to our upgraded service, guests can expect strong, consistent connectivity throughout the property. Most guests find the service more than sufficient for both leisure and work needs during their visit. Wi-Fi is provided as a convenience, giving you the flexibility to unplug or stay connected as much as you prefer while enjoying your time in Bourbon Country.
What is the booking process?
Our booking process is simple and designed for convenience. You can reserve your cottage directly through our official site or via trusted vacation rental platforms, where you’ll see available dates, cottage details, and all amenities. Once you select your accommodation and complete payment, you’ll receive a confirmation along with stay details, arrival information, and property guidelines. For added services like customized tours, group stays, or premium packages such as our Kentucky Derby experience, we recommend contacting us directly. Because these often involve tailored planning and coordination, discussing them ahead of time helps ensure availability and lets us align every detail with your travel needs.
Is parking available on-site?
Yes, parking is available on-site and included with your stay. Each cottage has its own private driveway and dedicated parking area located directly at the unit, making arrivals and departures simple and convenient. This setup allows guests to come and go freely without shared lots, meters, or permit restrictions. Because the property is set on spacious grounds, parking is straightforward and stress-free compared to urban accommodations. Guests arriving with more than one vehicle as part of a group stay can typically be accommodated with advance planning. Having parking directly at each cottage makes it easy to explore the area independently or coordinate transportation during your visit.
What are typical check-in and check-out times?
Check-in and check-out times are set to allow adequate preparation and cleaning between guests. While exact times are confirmed at booking, check-in typically occurs in the afternoon, with check-out scheduled for late morning. These windows help ensure the cottage is fully ready for your arrival. Specific instructions, including access details, are shared before your stay so you know exactly what to expect. If you anticipate arriving late or need to discuss timing flexibility, it’s best to communicate in advance. Requests for early check-in or late check-out are subject to availability and cannot always be guaranteed, especially during peak travel periods.
Are there any smoking policies?
Yes, smoking policies are in place to protect the comfort and safety of all guests. Smoking is not permitted inside the cottages. This includes cigarettes, cigars, and other smoking materials. The indoor spaces are maintained as smoke-free environments. Outdoor smoking may be permitted in designated exterior areas, provided it is done responsibly and away from entrances or shared spaces. Guests are expected to dispose of smoking materials properly and avoid creating fire hazards. Failure to follow smoking policies may result in additional cleaning fees. These guidelines help ensure that the property remains clean, comfortable, and welcoming for all guests, including those with sensitivities to smoke.
What is the cancellation or refund policy?
Our cancellation and refund policy is straightforward and applies to all reservations. Cancellations made 30 days or more before your scheduled arrival are eligible for a full refund. If a reservation is canceled between 10 and 29 days before arrival, 50 percent of the booking total will be refunded. Cancellations made fewer than 10 days before arrival are non-refundable. This policy helps us manage availability while remaining fair to guests planning their stay. We encourage reviewing these terms carefully before booking and reaching out with any questions, so expectations are clear if plans change.
Do you offer any special packages (e.g., Derby or events)?
Yes, we occasionally offer special packages tied to major events, such as the Kentucky Derby. These packages are designed to provide a more all-inclusive experience and may combine accommodations with added services like transportation or private dining, depending on the event. Availability and inclusions vary by package and season, and these offerings are typically limited. Because of high demand during event periods, packages may sell out well in advance. Standard cottage bookings do not automatically include special services unless clearly stated. If you’re planning to visit during a major event or are interested in a bundled experience, it’s best to inquire early about current or upcoming package options.
Who do I contact for more information or special requests?
For additional information or special requests, you can contact us directly using the details provided on your booking confirmation or through our official website. Direct communication is especially helpful if you’re planning a group stay, exploring tour options, or have specific needs related to your visit. Reaching out in advance allows us to better understand your plans and provide accurate guidance on availability and logistics. While we do our best to accommodate reasonable requests, some arrangements require advance notice.
How far in advance should I book?
Booking timelines depend on the season and purpose of your visit. For standard stays during quieter periods, availability may exist closer to your travel dates. However, weekends, peak bourbon season, and major events tend to fill up quickly. If you’re planning to visit during high-demand times or want to reserve multiple cottages or a larger accommodation, booking several months in advance is strongly recommended. The same applies if you’re interested in tours or special packages, which often require additional coordination. Early booking gives you more flexibility, better availability, and more time to plan distillery visits and related experiences around your stay.
